Zune as an hard drive? One of several things that didn´t come out well in my Zune photos was the experience of plugging it into Windows XP and Windows Vista RC1 boxes with the USB cable. I tried connecting the Zune to my laptop with XP installed and I tried connecting it to a box running Vista RC1. On my laptop, the standard "Windows has found a new device" dialog popped up and asked me to install drivers. In all fairness, I´m running Windows Media Player 11 beta 2 on my laptop, so maybe Zune isn´t plugged into the beta code just yet, but I thought the whole push from Microsoft to make MTP the standard for portable devices was to make sure the media player experience was just as seamless as the digital camera experience is. My iRiver Clix works great with WMP11 Beta 2, no extra drivers required. At the very least, where´s the mass storage class device information to make the Zune just as functional as my CompactFlash cards, my Creative devices, my old Rio Karma, and the dozens of other devices I cast aside over the years? Even Sony didn´t do something so stupid as to make it impossible to mount a MemoryStick through the PSP and they are known for customer lock-in. iPods function as mass storage class devices requiring no additional drivers to mount when connected to either Windows or Mac OS X. What´s Microsoft´s excuse here? I thought the Microsoft mantra was always customer choice? The idea that I need to load drivers from a CD on every potential computer I might want to connect with is stupid. Even Apple realized having Mac and Windows versions of their iPods wasn´t cost effective and went to a universal solution, which only hurt small outfits like MediaFour who provided a workaround. Every digital camera on the planet is automatically recognized in Windows XP (and every camera in my house is recognized by my Vista box). All of the media players I own are automatically recognized by both Windows Media Player and my system as a hard drive. So I ask you Microsoft Zune team - why do you hate your customers??

My 30G zune was fine until i updated software. It seems as tho it took half of the songs away that i had on there. I did successfully upload the new pics i wanted. I was listening to tunes earlier, now it will not even turn on. When i connect it to anything, ... speakers, computer via wire, speakers.... nothing, all of a sudden, it is an expensive paperweight. It will not turn on nor will it be recognized. HELP!!!! I am not a techno-junkie.?

Need v2.5 software!! I´m having a nightmare. Monday PC crashes, I end up having to reformat the drive and re-installed Windows Xp home service pack 2 then upgraded to service pack 3. Zune software has of course been wiped along with my library of songs. Don´t panic I think it´s all still on my zune (30gb) version. so I re-install the software from the disc I had when I bought it. It´s version 1.0 of the software though. I had upgrade form zune net to V2.5 software and firmware sometime last year so my Zune wont speak to it v1.0 and just says update the software when I plug it in I´m having trouble downloading v3.0 from zune . net Please please can you tell me:- 1. Where can iI get hold of v2.5 as the zune net site now only offer v3.0 If not then 2. If I do mange to get install V3.0, when I install the firm ware on the Zune will it wipe my Zune of all it´s songs. They won´t be in the library on my pc and they´ll be gone for good. I have 100´s of albums that took hours to burn and download some of it I can´t replace. I am relying on my Zune device to save me. Please please help?

my zune was working fine and i turned it off. when i went to turn it on about a half hour later it wont turn on. or give me the low battery icon. it wont sync to my computer or charge on my zune home. ive already been through two zunes and ive seen this same problem happen to 3 zunes in the last week. this is ridiculous. how do i fix this ?

HELP!...i´ve had my zune for about a month and im going nuts...i made the huge mistake of installing windows vista...which just screwed my computer up completely but that annoying part is it won´t let me hook my zune up...i have tried the program people told me to download a file to work with windows vista,it didn´t work! Need some help.....?
